Register for the 30th Annual Thoroughbred Classic

TC5k_logo_2013One of Kentucky’s finest Thanksgiving Day traditions is about to celebrate its 30th installment. The annual Thoroughbred Classic takes place Nov. 28 at the beautiful Keeneland horse racing facility in Lexington. Last year, the race had its largest turnout ever, selling out with 2,400 participants coming from all over Kentucky as well as many other states. Best of all, the race raised a good deal of money for four local charities: the Hope Center, God’s Pantry Food Bank, Central Kentucky Radio Eye, and the Lexington Humane Society.

There’s no better way to kick off your Turkey Day than with a fun, family-friendly race. This year’s milestone race is sure to be extra memorable. Take part in either the 5K or the one-mile fun run. Just head to BLUEgrassRunners.org to register. Early registration is only $25 through Nov. 9, quite a bargain considering that the first 2,200 registrants will receive a Brooks Podium long-sleeved tech shirt, and there will be an extra gift for the first 1,000. As always, the Thoroughbred Classic features over 100 awards, as if making room for extra stuffing weren’t enough of an incentive to run hard.

Please keep in mind that pets or strollers are not allowed. It’s a large race, so this is a safety measure for all participants. Stay up to date with further race details by following BLUEgrass Runners on Facebook and Twitter and using the #ThoroughbredClassic hashtag.
